RIM and TIEC offer L.E 10,000 award to Egypt’s student app developers at ibtiecar 2012!

Research In Motion (RIM), makers of BlackBerry®smartphones, will sponsor and participate in إbtiecar 2012, an applicationdeveloper workshop organized by the Technology Innovation Entrepreneurship Centre (TIEC).


Students joining the Mobile Track at إbtiecar 2012 can learn more about the latest developertools for the BlackBerry platform, with sessions being run in Cairo from 15 -16July and in Alexandria from 18 - 19 July 2012.  They will also be giventhe opportunity to submit apps to win cash rewards.

Egyptian app developers, including Asgatech(developers of the Egyptian Elections Guide for BlackBerry)  and Zerowire Labs (developer of Sports Vibe EGYPT), are among the leading contributors to BlackBerry® App World™ in the Middle East and North Africa.

BlackBerry App World was launched in theregion in May 2011 and now has approximately 40,000 apps available forMiddle East consumers, including 1,500 in the Arabic language. Globally, RIM’sapp vendors grew by 254% and application submissions increased by 226%.

Research from Evans Data Corp has shown that BlackBerry App World has more paid downloads per monthwith 13% of BlackBerry developers making $100,000+ fromBlackBerry App World apps.
